**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Grounds and Moving services, the groundskeeper 1 is responsible for the following;
- Maintain cutting lawns with riding and walk behind mowers and raking, spring cleanup and fall leaf collection, fertilization and irrigation.
- Sweep hard surface roads, sidewalks, steps.
- Maintain shrubs, trees and flowerbeds by cultivating, weeding, fertilizing, pruning and watering.
- Landscaping, planting flowers, shrubs, trees site, preparation, and install sod.
- Remove snow and ice from roads, sidewalks and steps by snow shoveling and installation of salt and salt alternatives to make them in a safe condition.
- Pick litter and pick up trash from garbage receptacles.
- Install road signs.
- Clean equipment, shop and storage area’s.
- Assist in delivering materials and setting up of equipment for outdoor events on campus.
- Perform indoors cleaning tasks during inclement weather.
- Assist with excavations as required.
- Clean up debris following tasks.
- Reads reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.
- Understands the proper use of ladders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Entry-level skills in maintenance and repair procedures including preventive maintenance, breakdown repair and trouble-shooting.
- Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job function.
- Ability to read and interpret documents related to job function.
- Ability to effectively work individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- Grade Twelve or equivalent
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- A valid class G (min) driver’s license.
