**Position: Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Crisis Respite Care**

**Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Participant Care and Supervision**:

- Ensure participants receive exceptional care, with a focus on maintaining their health, safety, and well-being.
- Provide daily living support, including assistance with personal care tasks such as toileting, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
- Implement and follow through with established behavioral and care plans.

**Behavior Management and Support**:

- Use a preventative and proactive approach to implement strategies that promote positive behaviors.
- De-escalate and manage difficult situations or conversations as they arise.
- Encourage independence and self-help skills in participants.

**Engagement and Recreation**:

- Ensure participants are actively involved in meaningful recreational activities.
- Foster positive relationships between participants and staff, promoting a supportive and inclusive environment.

**Medication Administration**:

- Administer medications as directed by agencies, doctors, and/or families.
- Accurately complete Medication Administration Record (MAR) sheets and follow proper medication storage procedures.

**Community and Family Relations**:

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, their families, support networks, and community members.
- Participate in training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

**Shift Information**:

- Work hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

**Additional Responsibilities**:
**Supporting Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities**:

- Provide personalized assistance to ensure participants’ safety, comfort, and engagement in program activities.
- Promote an inclusive environment that fosters individual growth, self-expression, and social interaction.

**Practical Job Skills Training**:
**Educational and Skill Development**:

- Collaborate with participants to improve literacy, fine motor skills, mathematics, physical education, and spelling.
- Create and implement activities that support continuous learning and personal development.

**Life Skills and Vocational Training**:

- Assist participants in learning new life skills and vocational trades, such as aquaponics, culinary arts, woodworking, and computer coding.

**Leisure and Recreational Activities**:

- Organize and lead activities that encourage physical activity, creative expression, and socialization, including dance, drama, karate, swimming, and more.

**Job Requirements**:

- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma from a recognized community college.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals who have developmental exceptionalities.
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Completion of a 2-part TB test and HepB test.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Medication/Pharmacology training is an asset.
- Current and valid Class G Driver's License.
