As the Manager of Accounting, you will oversee a team of accountants and manage all aspects of accounting, tax compliance, and budget control for the Medavie Health Services West division within our organization. As an integral member of the management team, you will oversee the preparation and analysis of month end financial reporting, coordinate and support budget preparation, and ensure finances, billing and reporting are in line with contracts held with external health authorities and other parties.

You will work with other shared services supporting the organization who fulfill the functions of Payroll & Benefits, Procurement/AP, Human resources, and Information Technology to ensure resources of the companies you oversee are utilized efficiently and effectively. Assessing and improving overall division performance is expected - both current and long term, to meet company objectives.

You will provide comprehensive financial reporting internally and externally, support the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensure accurate financial statement preparation, analyze financial performance against budget, and provide insights to support the decision-making of business leaders.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates and oversees accounting team for Medavie Health Services West.
- Ensures that allocation of expenditures and receipts are consistent with defined company policies and budgets.
- Monitors and oversees compliance with the organization’s financial policies, CRA and GST/PST compliance and ensures the effective management of the organization’s resources.
- Coordinates the annual budget and planning process for MHSW. Reviews budget submissions for consistency with the organizational goals and objectives.
- Coordinates and supports annual operating budget and capital budgets for submission to the regulating authorities in accordance with principles established in the Contract.
- Prepares periodic costing information for the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Alberta Health Services or other government stakeholders for activities outside of the scope of the Contract. Meets with officials to resolve items in dispute and to develop guidelines for reporting on items inside the Contract.
- Day-to-day contract management including reporting as per contract requirements and dealing with government officials on an ad hoc basis related to contract requirements.
- Responsible for overseeing compliance with Provincial and Federal Privacy legislation, including the protection of confidential patient information.
- Coordinates external and internal audits of MHS West and oversees the implementation of recommendations of external and internal auditors.
- Oversees the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements of the organization and reports the Company’s financial results.
- Provides monthly financial analysis and supports monthly updates of the financial forecast to facilitate timely decision making regarding the allocation of the Company’s financial resources.
- Coordinates and oversees the external audit of the Company’s annual financial statements.

Requirements
- Post Secondary education in Business (Commerce/ Business Administration).
- 2 - 4 years’ leadership experience and at least 4 years professional finance experience.
- Professional accounting designation - CPA.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, including accounting standards for private enterprises and international financial reporting standards.
- Understanding of Information Technology including voice and data networks, servers, network/information security and database management systems.
- Sound business judgment and ability to think strategically in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational abilities are required.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a management team.
- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
