The Department of Agriculture is looking to fill the Farm Production Extension Specialist (G3) position. The position is located in Arborg.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be a member of, or eligible for membership in the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists at the Professional Agrologist level (P.Ag).
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5 driver's licence.
- Must be comfortable with the use of vehicles and all terrain vehicles in rough terrain and isolated areas.
- Must be able working outdoors, under inclement weather and limited communication service.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in environmental studies, plant science; or animal science or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in agronomy, crop production, forage production, rangeland production or livestock production and environmentally sustainable cropping an livestock practices.
- Knowledge of issues and regulations related to livestock production and the ACL program in Manitoba.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Desired:

- Masters degree in Agriculture or a related discipline.
- Experience working with GIS.

**Duties**:
The Farm Production Extension Specialist - ACL develops and delivers programming within agricultural crown lands and assists the primary agricultural producer with decisions regarding current, environmental and sustainable production practices related to land management. The Farm Production Extension Specialist provides provincial leadership and coordination in all aspects of agri-resource management and works with specific stakeholders and other branches to develop strategic plans and priorities. The position focuses efforts to facilitate the adoption of beneficial management practices to support and protect provincial agri-environmental resources, and focuses efforts on developing and delivering information that facilitates the advancement of the livestock/crop sector in a profitable and sustainable manner.
