The Associate, Fixed Income Investment Portfolio will be actively involved with the Fixed Income team in completing new investments, management of existing investments and reporting and analytics. Is familiar with the investment industry, such as management, investment dealers or brokers, public pension plans and knowledgeable with capital markets and fixed income.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Associate, Fixed Income Investment Portfolio.
- Analyzes market sectors to identify potential investment opportunities, prepares investment reports that outlines the positives and negatives of the opportunity. Evaluates potential investments and identifies and analyzes key areas of risks and opportunity. Responsible for the financial modelling and analysis of funds, companies and transactions.
- Prepares the Investment Advisory Committee / Pension Committee report which summarizes the expected return, risk and opportunities, team history, strategy, and terms.
- Develops relationships with key intermediaries; broker/dealers, corporate bond issuers, credit rating agencies, etc.
- Assists Portfolio managers in portfolio construction process to generate value-added investment strategies.
- Builds and maintains internal databases, financial systems and models as well as streamline operational processes.
- Ensures the data accuracy and timeliness of day position and risk reporting of bond portfolios; Updates and manages reports used for daily monitoring. Reviews information memorandums and management presentations.
- Analyzes market sectors to identify potential investment opportunities, prepares investment/company tear sheets that outlines the positives and negatives of the opportunity. Evaluates potential investments and identifies and analyzes key areas of risks and opportunities. Responsible for the financial modelling and analysis of funds, companies, and transactions.
- Attends and contributes to Pension Investment team meetings concerning fixed income which involve discussing reports and providing helpful insights with respect to debt opportunities.
- Responsible for handling daily administrative issues related to trade input and resolving settlement issues with traders, counterparties, and custodians.
- Prepares portfolio company reviews and other internal reports. Supports Pension Investment projects when and as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**
- Completed University degree in a related field such as Business, Computer Science or Mathematics OR an acceptable combination of professional training and experience.

**Experience**
- 2 or more years of relevant functional experience including practical knowledge of capital markets (fixed income and/or derivatives).
- Intermediate Excel skills, VBA programming experience an asset
- CFA designation, or progress towards attaining the CFA, an asset
- Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
- Strong organizational, prioritization and time-management skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
