Our Edmonton location is seeking an experienced Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Supervisor to support our diverse operations. This Full-time position located at our Edmonton airport maintenance shop.
**Description**:
The GSE Supervisor is responsible for administering the service, repair, and overall maintenance of the company’s and client’s fleet of owned, operated, and leased equipment. These duties encompass all administrative and technical responsibilities within the company’s maintenance structure. This position will also ensure that all GSE maintenance complies with industry and federal regulations. The GSE Supervisor will ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. They are also responsible for overseeing personnel conducting line and heavy maintenance for equipment.
**Responsibilities**:
- Proactively coordinating, planning, and controlling all GSE maintenance activities.
- Ensuring that all GSE maintenance is conducted in accordance with regulations, manufacturer’s instructions, and company policy.
- Ensure a proactive approach by actively participating in and promoting the corporate Safety Management System.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of maintenance staff.
- Leading, mentoring and developing the skills of the GSE Maintenance team.
- Assisting with the coordination of activities of the maintenance department with sub-shop managers, allied trades, and third parties.
- Assisting with the establishment of efficient schedules and resource allocations for inspections, overhauls, repairs and modifications.
- Ensuring proactive and participative quality control over GSE equipment maintenance and repair.
- Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring records as required by company policy.
- Provide prompt response to equipment service requests.
- Inventory control of parts, tools and supplies.
- Coordinate with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
- Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as required.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification in either of the following: Automotive or Heavy Duty Mechanics.
- Minimum five years of experience in general automotive or heavy equipment maintenance required.
- Previous Supervisor or Management experience an asset.
- Able to work extended hours on short notice and during non-routine operations.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean abstract.
- Class 3 or 1 Driver’s license an asset is an asset.
- Able to obtain an airport security clearance (RAIC).
- Able to lift up to 32 kg in confined spaces.
- Able to lift heavy objects over head for extended periods of time.
- Able to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time.
- Willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment.
- Teamwork skills and ability to maintain positive interactions with others.
- Good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills.
- Professional, punctual, meticulous and diligent.
- Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the AGFT Team.
