Mainland is hiring We are looking for experienced* Pipe Surveyor* to join our team.

The Opportunity

The Pipe Surveyor will be responsible for the correct and accurate alignment and grade of pipe and manhole installation as well as accurately locating wyees, tee's, and other fittings.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Work safely on a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
- Review plans to ensure grade and length of pipe runs are correct and that the pipe cross overs are designed correctly to avoid conflict
- Work with the Foreman and Engineer to communicate any issues
- Responsible for keeping accurate as-build information and transferring this information onto a clean set of plans at jobs end
- Responsible for entering manholes for installation and set-up of lasers per work safe requirements
- Preform physical tasks such as hammering in grade stacks, setting grade ribbons, light shoveling, etc.
- Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues.
- Train other employees and maintain quality results of work
- Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset
- Competency in the use of survey equipment such as theodolites, levels, rotating and pipe lasers
- Strong math skills and ability to calculate grades and slopes
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications
- Able to identify all hazards associated with various aspects of working in civil projects, as well as correctly communicate safety issues as they arise
- First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
- Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
- Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
- Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
- Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
