**MAIN PURPOSE**:
Reporting to the manager, the **Signals Foreman** is responsible traveling across Western Canada and managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals. The Signals Foreman must ensure safety, quality, profitability, and scheduling, resulting in customer satisfaction.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
- **Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Signals Foreman in the railroad industry**:
- **Be willing to travel across Western Canada as required**:
- Must have previous experience reading plans, signal drawings, how to install per railway guidelines.
- Previous railway experience is a requirement
- Education or experience in electronics/electrical is considered a strong asset
- Be a strong communicator - your safety is dependent on it
- Hold a full, valid class 5 driver’s license
- A Valid Class 3 License is an asset
- CROR and Crane Operator courses are an asset
- Be willing to undergo pre-employment testing including a _criminal record chec_k, _drug, alcohol, and fitness_ fit-for-duty testing, as a condition of employment
- Be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Be physically able to do repetitive bending, standing for long periods of time, carry up to 50lbs unassisted, repetitive swinging motions, walking on uneven surfaces (approx. 3 miles/day)
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- An emphasis on safety is critical for all employees. This can be a high-risk environment as you will be working around heavy moving equipment
- Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications and scope of work
- Pre-plan work activities with manager to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans
- Plan the day-to-day operations on the assigned project, and ensure that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work i.e., labor, equipment and materials
- Take responsibility for crew performance as related to company goals, safety audits, administration of company policies and procedures.
- Conduct tailgate meetings.
- Initiate follow-up action as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc.
- Conduct daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards and to solicit feedback from the workers
- Always maintain a dedication to safety by modelling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices, company policies and procedures. Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel
- Communicate with the manager and customer to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Perform a variety of related administrative tasks such as production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders and updating project files
- Provide coaching and instruction to all crew members
- General labor duties as required
