**ABOUT THE POSITION**

The General Foreman will oversee the day-to-day operations in the field. The General Foreman directs and mentors the Labourers and Foreman onsite within the scope of authority. The General Foreman is responsible for client relations and completion/delegation of all tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

The General Foreman is located in Yellowknife on a 3 weeks in/2 weeks out rotation and reports to the Project Manager.

**SCOPE**

The General Foreman will oversee the work and activities of the site and integrate the project controls and indirect staff to support, monitor, assess and report on it. They will have a good understanding of what controls and indirect support are warranted for a given scope of work, based on experience, education, and client requirements. They will be knowledgeable of the estimate, scope of work, budget, and schedule, and will likely (preferably) have been involved in the development of them.

The General Foreman is the middleman between the workforce and management and needs to communicate efficiently and effectively with both. They are also actively involved in interactions with the client on a one-to-one level as well as in management meetings. Effective and tactful, and sometimes discretionary communication skills are very important in this role for this reason.

The General Foreman is knowledgeable about the budget and schedule of the overall project, and monitors progress and productivity to gauge the success of the work plan. They will actively participate in the development of the schedule and workforce planning in consultation with the foremen and management. They will assign work to crews and subcontractors in the best sequence to progress the job according to the plan, or make revisions as required to minimize impacts to schedule and avoid interferences between the various trades and subcontractors.

The General Foreman is responsible for reviewing and/or approving daily, weekly, and monthly reports and ensures they are delivered to the Project Manager on time.

The General Foreman must establish and maintain key internal and external relationships including the staff within the Nahanni team and its subcontractors. Key external relationships include representatives of Parsons and any additional client site representatives.

The General Foreman works independently with mínimal supervision and has a high degree of decision-making authority.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

The General Foreman is ultimately responsible to ensure clear direction is provided to on-site workers. With an understanding of the governing Prime Contract, flow-downs, scope, schedule and commercial requirements of the project, the General Formal will identify, quantify, manage, and mitigate scope, schedule, execution, and commercial risk. Specific duties include:
1. Project Communication:

- Responsible for the preparation of documents/reports for internal project Team and Progress Meetings with the Client and others
- Responsible for the creation of daily work plans and traffic routing maps to designated project members
- Providing daily direction to Foreman, Field Engineer, and Material Management lead regarding project scope and schedule
- Reporting to the Project Manager any identified risks to schedule and cost
- Support and mentor Foremen in the execution of work by ensuring the requisite tools and equipment, materials and manpower are made available, and clearly communicate the scope of work, the plan, schedule and productivity expectations.

2. Project Planning/Scheduling:

- Assist the Project Team by providing input for project schedule updates
- Provide support and recommendations for quantity takeoffs
- Ensure that a Preventative Maintenance program is in place for all equipment
- Review upcoming work for potential risks and safety concerns; work with Foreman and site HSE advisor for the development of Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
- Management of indirect support staff including: office administration, safety & environmental administration, survey, tool and equipment maintenance, procurement and logistics, accommodations and travel, human resources management and recruiting.

3. Project Controls:

- Review changes to the contract, providing site-level insights and resource requirements to the Project Manager
- Ensure the development and maintenance of monthly tracking sheets for daily paste placement, water usage, waste, and fuel consumption
- Review and ensure the data from batch plant and borehole sheets are logged in proper project reporting documents
- Review the collection of photographs of all work activities and maintain records
- Coordinate Transportation of Dangerous Goods reporting requirements for work completed on site
- Coordinate the preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs) with proper references and delivery dates
- Confirm and validate labour, equipment, and material forecasts, communicating requirements to the Project
