As a member of the patient care team, the Ward Clerk works under the direction of the Clinical Manager or delegate and fulfills a variety of functions including clerical, reception, registration, public relations, and bookings.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Certificate and equivalent in related experience
- Work experience transcribing and or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
- One year recent experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs, with data entry experience
- One year related clerical experience in a high volume, fast-paced department within a health care/clinical setting.
- Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 45 w.p.m.
- Experience in order entry/Meditech
- Experience and efficiency in transcribing physician orders
- Experience in completing payroll, timesheets and scheduling staff
- Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
- Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
- Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health System Privacy Policy
- Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
- Consistent and regular attendance required
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
