Our client, a rock-climbing gym in the GTA is looking to add a Head Setter to their team. They are looking for somebody that will lead and mentor the team with humility and integrity. **Responsibilities**:

- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a cohesive route-setting team. Foster a continuous learning environment, providing regular, constructive feedback and facilitating development opportunities.
- Route Setting & Management: Create high-quality routes catering to all skill levels. Oversee route-setting program, ensuring routes adhere to safety standards and provide engaging experiences.
- Collaboration & Unity: Foster collaboration within the route setting team and across organization departments. Engage in a secondary role such as inspections or front desk work to stay connected with the community.
- Organization & Scheduling: Formulate and maintain an efficient route-setting schedule, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime.
- Communication & Feedback: Promote open dialogue and transparency. Be receptive to feedback and use it constructively to improve the climbing experience and team performance.
- Integrity & Commitment: Consistently uphold the company’s values and commitments.
- Safety & Maintenance: Assist with inspections and adhere to safety and injury prevention protocols. Be proactive in ensuring the safety of both participants and staff.
- Community Engagement & Mentorship: Engage with community members as an ambassador of the craft. Mentor junior and seasoned route setters, facilitating their professional growth.
- Inspire the team to engage in a secondary role such as inspections or front desk work to stay connected with the community.

**Qualifications**:

- Significant route setting experience, with years in leadership roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of climbing techniques, principles, and safety standards.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Robust organizational and time management abilities.
- Capacity to work flexibly under pressure within strict deadlines.
- Experience in fostering team’s professional development.
- Dedication to upholding a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment.

**Technical Qualifications**:

- Experience in Bouldering, Top Rope, and Lead Climbing is required.
- The ability to comfortably climb 5.12+/V7+ and higher is important.
- Proficiency in using route-setting tools, adapting to repair, and maintenance needs is a must.
- They should have the capacity to lift 50 plus pounds and manage climbing volumes.
- Familiarity with Work at Height protocols and procedures is necessary.
- Ability to efficiently execute hold and equipment procurement plans is required.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
- ACMG or CWA qualification is expected.
