The Manager, Facilities Services, oversees the daily operations of all custodial services, logistics, shipping/receiving and mail delivery services for both the college and Ontario Tech University. The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of facilities employees in addition to coordinating a team of contracted staff. The incumbent oversees required and preventative maintenance, monitors equipment and inventory levels, receives and reviews contractor tenders, and develops processes and standards while promoting a team culture of service excellence. The incumbent reports to the Director, Facilities Management and works collaboratively to develop and implement industry best-practices in building operations and facilities management.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversees all aspects of custodial services, logistics, mail distribution, and shipping/receiving operations for both the college and Ontario Tech University.
- Monitors and procures equipment and ensures appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
- Provides leadership to a team of facilities experts who are responsible for delivering exceptional service.
- Supervises the daily activities of all facilities staff and plans daily tasks.
- Establishes and implements preventative maintenance and restorative cleaning programs.
- Implements cost-effective changes to facility services through the review of processes, procedures, and legislation.
- Provides staff with training, regular coaching, and evaluation of work performed
- Ensures motivation of staff through regular staff meetings and individual consultations.
- Manages time and attendance records and approves vacation time.
- Provides and documents appropriate hazard specific training (ie. WHMIS, etc.) in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 3-year degree or diploma with a focus business, hospitality, supply chain management, or similar discipline.
- 5-years experience in a hotel or similar environment in a similar role.
- Intermediate skill-level using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills.
- Sound knowledge of relevant industry safety acts and regulations.
- Sound knowledge of shipping and receiving practices.
- Sound knowledge of applicable building, fire safety, WHIMS, and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance and/or environmental systems is an asset
