**Position Summary**

The Homelessness Supervisor leads a team of staff in the delivery of integrated social services programs. This Supervisor provides direction and guidance to ensure a person-centred approach to the effective and responsive delivery of the Ontario Works program and the Homeless Serving system, with a focus on life stabilization, employment readiness and homelessness prevention. The Supervisor operates in accordance with the mandate of the Ontario Works Act 1997, the Ontario Disability Support Program Act 1997, Tenant Protections Act and other relevant legislation as well as Lambton County policy.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Program Delivery and Service Coordination**
- Make, monitor and audit decisions under the Ontario Works Act and Regulations, Homemakers and Nurses Services Act and other relevant legislation of the Province and the Corporation
- Assist in the delivery of the homeless serving system to prevent and reduce homelessness using an outcomes-based approach.
- Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives as well as policies and procedures that result in meeting outcome expectations and person-centred services and support
- Develop and deliver training including staff development materials to ensure knowledge of policies, procedures and applicable legislation is current and conducive to effective person-centred service coordination and meeting program expectations
- Ensure successful coordination and collaboration of programs between departments, as well as with community partners/stakeholders.
- Complete Internal Reviews, draft submissions to and defend decisions at the Social Benefits Tribunal.

**Technology and Data**
- Use the data bases necessary to deliver and administer programs
- Assess issues and take corrective action where necessary with use of databases and other technologies used in the delivery of services and programs including SAMS, HIFIS
- Use various programs to manage daily responsibilities (i.e. Info HR, Microsoft Office and Outlook)
- Access, interpret and analyze data from various sources to ensure the effective delivery of social assistance and programming along with developing solution focused action plans for continual improvement

**Budget/Finance**:

- Assess and approve discretionary benefits as well as supports provided through municipal, provincial and federal funding provided outside of social assistance
- Approve staff expense claims
- Authorizes payment to vendors and client's as per approved procedures

**Human Resources Management**:

- Assist with the recruitment and selection of departmental staff
- Prepare and deliver performance appraisals and exit interviews
- Compile an individual development program which includes an orientation period, identification of educational and training needs and auditing of work
- Follow performance management policy and establish corrective action
- Monitor staff attendance and schedule workload
- Review and interpret information in reports to assess individual and team performance
- Ensure adherence to legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Ontario Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, union collective agreements and County policies

**Communication**:

- Collaborate with community partners, elected officials and legal representatives for purposes such as resolving issues, providing information and exploring program options
- Organize team meetings to discuss policy change, health & safety etc.
- Participate on staff, community and new initiative committees
- Facilitate staff training, discussion groups and client workshops
- Liaison with other County departments (e.g. Information Technology, Finance)
- De-escalate and negotiate solutions in complex situations

**General**:
