Ft Community Outreach Worker

SLCS is currently seeking a Full-Time Community Outreach Worker to become a part of the Intensive Reintegration Services Program. The IRS program provides one to one intensive community supports to youth involved in the Youth Criminal Justice System.
Support with systems navigation is key in relation to connecting youth to ODSP, community supports and transitional services as youth enter into adult systems. In addition, you would also provide consultative support to youth and their families or caregivers. Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice System, court system and service navigation within the sector is extremely beneficial.
As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the IRS employee is responsible for addressing criminogenic risk factors, assisting clients in overcoming barriers, developing safety plans, providing crisis intervention and developing, in conjunction with youth and their support system, individualized support plans. Within the role, liaising with a multi-disciplinary team and providing a wraparound approach is pivotal. In this position, the employee is responsible for assisting youth with daily activities, skill development, assistance in building confidence and advocacy skills all through role modelling and liaising with community supports including educational, financial, child welfare, and children’s mental health and justice institutions. Success in this role requires well-developed, strong interpersonal and written communication skills, advocacy skills, crisis management experience and the ability to work independently showcasing time management and adaptability skills. Extensive knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, Restorative Practices, Intergenerational Trauma, Strengths Based, Behaviour Management, and Risk Management are inherent to the position.
Within the IRS program, the employee will contribute to program development, evaluation and statistical reports to meet regulatory requirements. The employee will support a workplace that embraces safety and security, diversity, inclusion, teamwork and problem solving.
The positions home base is located at 405 Dundas Street; however, the incumbent will be expected to provide services within the community and travel throughout the London Middlesex area.
**Required Qualifications**:
- University degree or 2 - 3 year College diploma from an accredited institution
- 1 - 3 yrs. Experience working with youth involved in the justice system
- Standard First Aid + CPR - Level C
- 2nd Shot of COVID-19 Vaccine
- Valid G class Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle
- Self-Starter and ability to work independently
