Qualifications:
Essential:

- Bachelor in Food Sciences, Agriculture or a related field (master's preferred), or and equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered.
- Experience and expertise in food safety, preferably in a regulatory environment.
- Management experience with responsibility for human resources, including leading and managing staff, performance management, recruitment, retention, coaching and training.
- Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of policies, protocols and programs.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.
- Ability to work independently and under mínimal supervision.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and de-escalate conflicts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage interruptions, establish priorities, meet deadlines within tight timelines and manage high workload.

**Duties**:
The position manages financial, human resources, programs and initiatives for the food processing and dairy inspection programs within the branch. The incumbent provides leadership and oversight to a group of food safety professionals responsible to confirm industry compliance with provincial food safety legislation. The position is responsible to ensure that Manitoba has an effective and efficient food safety (processing) inspection program.
