QUANTITATIVE RISK ANALYST

AVG SALARY IN TORONTO: $70,000 -120,000

**Responsibilities**:

- Determine profitability and risk of traders based on their trading history.
- Develop and maintain risk models: Design and implement quantitative models to measure and assess financial risks.
- Data analysis and validation: Collect, clean, and analyze data to ensure its accuracy and reliability for risk measurement and modeling purposes. Validate and verify model inputs, assumptions, and results.
- Risk assessment and reporting: Conduct risk assessments and provide reports on the organization's exposure to different types of risks. Identify and communicate potential risk issues to stakeholders and management.
- Scenario analysis and stress testing: Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate the impact of adverse market conditions and extreme events on the organization's risk profile. Provide insights on risk sensitivities and potential mitigations.
- Risk mitigation strategies: Collaborate with risk management teams to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies based on analysis and modeling results. Evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and recommend enhancements.
- Model calibration and back-testing: Calibrate and validate risk models by comparing model outputs with actual historical data. Conduct regular back-testing to assess model performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Regulatory compliance: Stay updated with relevant regulations and industry standards related to risk management. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assist in regulatory reporting as necessary.
- Collaboration and support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including traders, portfolio managers, and risk managers, to provide quantitative insights and support decision-making processes.

**Requirements**:
Educational background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, finance, or related disciplines. A Ph.D. may be preferred for more advanced positions.

Strong quantitative skills: Proficiency in statistical analysis, financial modeling, and quantitative techniques. Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB is often required.

Risk management knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial risk concepts, methodologies, and regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with risk metrics, VaR (Value at Risk), stress testing, and scenario analysis.

Data analysis and modeling experience: Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial data. Proficiency in database querying and statistical modeling techniques.

Problem-solving abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks. Ability to think critically and provide quantitative insights to support risk management decisions.

Communication and collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex quantitative information in a clear and concise manner. Collaborative mindset to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Industry knowledge: Familiarity with financial markets, products, and trading strategies. Understanding of relevant financial instruments and their associated risks.

Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis, model development, and reporting.

**Salary**: $70,000.00 per year
