**Job Summary**:
The Program Worker, Bike Host is responsible for executing CultureLink’s Bike Host program. Bike Host is a free cycling mentorship program for newcomers, involving the loan of a bicycle, helmet and lock, along with participation in basic training and bike rides led by a volunteer mentor who is an experienced cyclist. Newcomers are matched for weekly get
- togethers involving cycling over a period of 3 months. The program provides targeted intensive training and supports, based primarily on forming community connections between newcomers and local urban cycling experts, so that immigrant and refugee participants may realize the broad benefits which cycling brings for active transportation and recreation.

At this time, administrative work is completed primarily from the CultureLink Children and Youth Centre (Jane/Dundas), while work with mentors and mentees is carried out at various work sites, including: the CultureLink Main Office
(Bloor/Dundas), the CultureLink Children and Youth Centre, with occasional visits to CultureLink Bike Hub (Jane/Finch).

Maintaining positive relationships with partners and CultureLink colleagues is essential to program success. All agency staff are also expected to support each other and to collaborate on agency-wide initiatives.

**Duties**
- Organize registration of participants, prepare programs and promotional material, and publicize program;
- Review client background information, interview clients to obtain case history and prepare intake reports;
- Implement cycling workshops and programs;
- Organize registration of participants, prepare programs and promotional material, and publicize events;
- Co-ordinate and supervise volunteers;
- Plan and carry out cycling activities;
- Assemble and maintain supplies and cycling equipment;
- Demonstrate and instruct bicycle riding skills;
- Demonstrate and instruct basic bike maintenance;
- Attend to clients with special needs;
- Monitor cycling activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required, enforce safety rules and regulations;
- Assist with co-ordination of special events;
- Schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records and prepare reports;
- Support program team members and contribute to agency-wide initiatives;
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor;
**Required Competencies**
- Physical demands: Standing (50% of every shift); sitting at a desk for computer work (50% of the workday) and meetings; lifting from floor (20 lbs); handling tools/objects requiring strong arm grip; use of gloves and eye protection is required in some cases;
- Non-physical demands: travel between worksites; occasional deadlines; variety of tasks;
- Social/Emotional demands: teamwork; relationship/network-building; exposure to emotional/confrontational situations; working closely with the public, with clients and with colleagues;
- Cognitive/mental demands: attention to detail; self-supervision/autonomy; multitasking; organizational ability/time management, adaptability, sound judgement, effective written communication.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary program or degree in a relevant field;
- Three years of community work experience;
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six months;
- Fluency in languages other than English is an asset;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

**Salary**: $28.10-$29.81 per hour
