**THE OPPORTUNITY**

RAM Iron & Metal is looking for a talented and driven Dismantler/Grader to join our Team. The Dismantler/Grader, under the direction of the Lead Operations - Welland will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, grading, sorting, and processing of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials as well as performing the processing of incoming vehicles, prepare them for the yard and perform dismantling procedures.

**OVERVIEW**

**RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES**
- Input material grades using tablet or handheld device.
- Ensuring incoming materials meet standards, removing non-confirming items.
- Direct traffic for safe movement within the yard.
- Provide excellent customer service to walk in customers and contractors.
- Perform pre-inspections of vehicles entering the yard.
- Perform daily pre and post inspections of equipment, documenting findings on provided forms.
- Utilize car processing unit to remove fluids such as fluid, coolant, fuel and used oil.
- Remove batteries, mercury switches, and refrigerants, storing them in appropriate containers.
- Mark vehicles properly after fluid, battery, and tire removal.
- Maintain and report on tools and equipment.
- Work across different yard sections, including ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, transferring them as necessary.
- Perform yard housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, maintaining clear roadways and yard cleanliness.
- Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listing above.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Knowledge of metal materials is an asset.
- Minimum one (1) year of auto dismantling and grading experience
- Experience working in a scrap yard or in an outdoor environment is an asset.
- Experience with a forklift (valid forklift certification on Counterbalance).
- Experience with front-end loaders is an asset.
- Ability to lift tires and batteries weight up to 50lbs.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.
- A valid Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification is an asset.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**

The working environment is busy and fast paced, with regular and ongoing interactions with colleagues, management, and the public at large.  There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy.  The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up / down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
