The Municipality of West Nipissing has enjoyed more than 20 years as an amalgamated municipality. In 1999, Cache Bay, Crystal Falls, Desaulniers, Field, Kipling, Lavigne, North Monetville, River Valley, Sturgeon Falls, Verner and 17 ½ unincorporated townships came together to form the vibrant, growing and prosperous Municipality of West Nipissing.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage the collections, including development, documentation, conservation, research, loans and display.
- Develop and implement annual strategic development plan.
- Audit collection and preservation of regional artefacts for the residents of West Nipissing and the enjoyment of all.
- Manage partnerships, wellness, and public programs that engage the community with history, art and culture.
- Deliver engaging and educational programs, displays and exhibitions.
- Work with partners and community members to continuously improve the Sturgeon River House Museum and related events.
- Maximize opportunities for income generation through grants, fundraising, activities, and events.
- Participate in local and regional networks to promote the museum.
- Supervise museum staff (ex. Summer students, etc)
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the museum.
- Greet visitors and provide orientation to the museum as well as museum tours.
- Able to undertake research for grants, future exhibits, school programs and fundraising.
- Sell merchandise and take admission fees from visitors.
- Catalogue and register gifts and loans to the museum.
- Able to do research on artifacts and photos.
- Work with the public in a museum and boutique environment.
- Contribute to the organizing, planning and set-up of museum special events.
- Able to work well within a team environment and independently.
- Assist groups, individuals and organizations for rental and private events.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in history, museum studies, business, or related field
- Effective leadership skills and experience supervising staff
- Proficient in French and English (reading, writing, and oral)
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Experience in customer service
- Excellent public speaking/presentation skills
- Interest and knowledge of Canadian history and of West Nipissing
- Availability to work days, weekends, and statutory holidays, as assigned
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- A criminal background check is required
- Ability to multi task and problem solve

**ASSETS**
- Relevant experience in a museum setting would be an asset
- Willingness to take courses in museum studies
