**Childcare Worker**

**Positions Available**:One (1) position

**Hours of Work**: 20 hours/week,

**Schedule**:Sunday to Thursday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

**Salary**: $23.91 - $24.48 per hour + plus 4% vacation pay as per the collective agreement and access to employee assistance program

**About Red Door**:Red Door is a non-for-profit organization. The mission of the Red Door Shelter is to end homelessness for each family that comes through our doors by providing a safe, temporary refuge and critical services to support them in healing, rebuilding their lives and integrating back into a community. At Red Door, we strive for quality care, advocacy, collaboration, integrity and accountability.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan and implement childcare programs for the children residing in the shelter: infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for the children through planned indoor and outdoor activities,
- Assist with maintaining the Childcare room in a clean and orderly manner in accordance with Public Health standards,
- Assist the children with fine and gross motor skills, English acquisition, development of concentration skills, the promotion of creative expression and cultural orientation,
- Assist the children with the process of separating from the primary caregiver and offer emotional support when required.
- Approach parents and staff in an appropriate and professional manner, when accepting children into the Childcare and returning the children to their parent or to the staff,
- Ongoing observation and documentation of children’s progress and issues,
- Maintain open communication with co-workers and supervisor regarding children’s issues, concerns, observations, and programming.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Fulfill reporting/documentation requirements, within established deadlines for completion.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, CYW, Child Studies, Education or another related field
- Experience working with children from birth to older youth,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills,
- Leadership skills, a positive behaviour management style and creative ideas,
- CPR/First Aid Training.
