**Your role**

As the Project Biologist (Species at Risk), you’ll support our vision and values by providing technical support to the Senior Wildlife Biologist on projects and programs that include lab and field work on a variety of species.

This position will participate in project design and oversee execution and logistics of several projects or programs, ranging from project design to final report preparation. They will be required to liaise and coordinate program operations with other program and departmental staff. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of students and technicians.

This position will lead procurement and management of equipment and supplies, and manage small contracts for services, as well as tracking project budgets.

The incumbent will lead the statistical and spatial analyses for several projects, under the guidance of the Senior Wildlife Biologist. To meet funding obligations, the incumbent with be responsible to lead or participate in drafting several interim and final reports, including scientific publications, each year.

- A university degree in wildlife biology, ecology, zoology, or a related discipline.
- Considerable experience in coordinating and managing wildlife-related field projects in remote environments, using non-invasive and capture-mark-recapture methods.
- Experience in coordinating and managing wildlife sample collection in a laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated experience in data analyses using GIS and R software
- Demonstrated experience in report writing, including peer-reviewed reports or publications.

**Knowledge, Skills and Suitability**
- Demonstrated, deep knowledge of the natural history of boreal species and ecosystems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the identification, ecology, and monitoring of species at risk in northern Canada, with a marked focus on mammals.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using remote sensing devices and capture-mark-recapture techniques to monitor mammal species in remote settings.
- Demonstrated skills in statistical analyses and modeling.
- Demonstrated project leadership skills in coordinating field and lab work.
- Personal suitability in mentoring and the daily management of technicians and students.
- Personal suitability toward working both alone and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated skills in scientific writing.
