Water and Wastewater Sampling Technician

Aureus Solutions is seeking a part-time Technician to conduct drinking water sampling and wastewater collection system sampling. The sampling days can be scheduled with a significant amount of flexibility and is scheduled typically 1-2 months in advance but must be conducted during normal working hours (Mon-Fri between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm).

The anticipated workload is between 16-25 days/year and offers significant flexibility in scheduling. This position is an ideal match for someone looking for a 2nd job (working days off) or someone who is semi-retired.

This role involves some travel within the province. Applicants must have a valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement will be provided where applicable.

Must be eligible for security clearance, including a valid police check.

**Responsibilities**

Schedule and complete sampling, as requested. The exact amount of work will vary by year. Schedule will be flexible, and response time is not immediate and can be coordinated around technician’s schedule, within reason.

Complete annual pre-scheduled water and wastewater sampling.

Travel to regional sites for drinking water sample collection. Travel times can vary depending on the sampling location. Government mileage rates or rental car can be provided.

Conduct in-building drinking water sampling and collection system wastewater sampling according to corporate procedures. Must be able to lift a manhole cover with appropriate equipment (e.g., pick axe or other lifting device).

Take detailed and legible field notes and submit them to the Project Coordinator by the end of each working day.

Identify and take corrective actions for sampling and sample handling challenges

Communicate with facility staff in a polite and supportive manner

Represent Aureus in a professional manner

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Experience with drinking water and/or wastewater sampling and operation is required.
- Minimum 2 years experience with wastewater sampling
- Ability to work with off-site supervision
- Ability to lift ~30 lbs (sample coolers, manhole cover manipulation)
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and in a team environment
- Computer skills sufficient to complete and upload field notes and pictures
- Satisfactory Criminal Background Check
- Valid driver license and reliable automobile
- Attention to detail

**Salary**: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
