The Regional Genetics program at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley (THP) Site consists of both clinical and laboratory genetic services. Specialists include Clinical Geneticists (physicians), Laboratory Cytogenomicists (PhD), Genetic Counselors (MSc) and Technologists (MLT) with subspecialty training in cytogenetic, molecular genetics or both.

The THP Genetics Laboratory is completely integrated and is responsible for constitutional molecular genetics, molecular pathology, cytogenetics and microarray testing of a very broad range of specimen types. In 2023, close to 15,000 genetic specimens were processed and reported by the THP Genetics Laboratory. The laboratory is located in a bright, spacious facility with state-of-the-art equipment.
- Investigate clinical significance of sequence, copy number and structural variants found by microarray, NGS assays and Optical Genome Mapping.
- Search internal datasets as well as published literature, online mutation databases, or other academic resources for information on variants detected in clinical testing.
- Interpret clinical significance of variants using ACMGG or CAP/AMP/ASCO Guidelines.
- Prepare variant assessment summaries.
- Draft clear and concise clinical genetic testing reports.
- Work closely with Laboratory Cytogenomicists to ensure reporting standards are met or exceeded.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Medical Genomics (MHSc) OR Master of Science (MSc) in Human Genetics and/or Genetic Counselling.
- MLT certification in Molecular Genetics and/or Cytogenetics is an asset.
- Several years of experience working in a clinical genetics laboratory is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Collaborative team player.
- Effective critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
