**Job Description**:
***:Under the direct supervision of the Community Program Coordinator - Community Centres, is responsible for daily cleaning, room set up, and minor repairs in City-operated community centres. Works with staff and volunteers to create an atmosphere that encourages the community to participate in all aspects of the Centre.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Mops floor and operate floor scrubber machine as necessary to ensure floors are clean and dry.
- Empties garbage and recycling in rooms and offices.
- Replenishes paper towels, toilet tissue and soap in all washrooms and ensures washrooms are clean.
- Empties garbage in dumpster outside.
- May be required to perform minor repairs.
- Cleans windows and dust.
- Shovels walkway and applies ice melt / sand as needed.
- Set up & take down rooms as needed (includes tables, chairs, AV equipment, wiping down).
- Participants in staff training and meetings as required
- Performs other duties as may be required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Grade 12 education and experience with custodial/janitorial work

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Must be able to relate in a warm and welcoming way to members of the community
- Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to operate floor scrubber machine

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must have current standard first aid and CPR or get certified within 3 months of starting should one receive the position;
- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Part-time
- Irregular hours (evenings/weekends).
