**Job Summary**
**PEACE Counsellor (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, Empowerment).** Provides assessment, treatment planning and implementation for clients who are eighteen years and younger who are experiencing the effects of witnessing violence and abuse. Services will also be offered to the parents/guardians of children/youth as well as community members in the form of psycho-educational presentations. Close collaborations with other health and support services will be built and maintained in efforts to provide comprehensive service delivery.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Counselling, a Health and Human Services related field
- PEACE training an asset (or willing to attend training when available)
- At least 2 years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
- Must have an ability to assess social, psychological, emotional, and/or behavioural issues in children and youth
- Must be sensitive to & respectful of cultural differences, differences in socio-economic status & lifestyle diversity
- Must have knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques
- Knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to Indigenous culture
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams, coordinating multifaceted service & treatment plans
- Intermediate Computer Skills (moderate understanding of operating systems, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, databases)
**Required**:
- Valid class 5 driver’s license & satisfactory drivers abstract
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- This position requires union membership
