Academic Plastic Surgeon

McMaster University, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking an academic Plastic Surgeon to join our Pediatric and Adult Hand Surgery Service to contribute to the hand and peripheral nerve reconstructive needs at these sites. The academic plastic surgery group is one of the best in the country and McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences are committed to strengthening our Division by offering a unique recruitment with a planned transition of our existing peripheral nerve surgeon.
Our vision includes adding an excellent Plastic Surgeon with expertise in peripheral nerve, brachial plexus surgery and secondary reconstruction. A Fellowship would be required. Of course solid basic reconstructive skills are required to support our pediatric and adult on call programs. Sited at McMaster Children’s Hospital, this is a hybrid position caring for pediatric and adult patients supporting continuity of care from brachial plexus birth injuries to adult sequela, as well as nerve tumor and trauma reconstruction. Appropriate access to elective main pediatric and adult OR, minor OR and ambulatory clinic space are available. Allied health expertise support is provided. There is a planned mentorship and transfer of care and resources with a negotiable start date.
The successful applicant will be expected to show evidence of interpersonal and collaborative skills and initiative to further advance the clinical and academic productivity of the Plastic Surgery Division. A commitment to surgical education at all levels is essential, as well, interest in formal educational roles would be advantageous. Research training and/or commitment to continuous Quality Improvement is desirable. A full time appointment at the appropriate level in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University is required and will be available to the successful applicant.
