Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
- At least 3 years experience working in the field of early learning, preferably in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with children, their families, staff members and community colleagues
- Demonstrated commitment to the profession of early learning, evident through on-going participation in professional learning
- Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act, CCEYA and Public Health guidelines for child care
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with children, parents, staff members and community partners.
- A health check, up-to-date immunizations, and a vulnerable sector police check
- Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certificate

Maintain a healthy, safe, welcoming environment for all who enter our programs: children, families, staff members, placement students, and community partners
- Ensure the daily menu is prepared based on the guidelines of resources provided by the Public Health Department
- Engage with families on a regular basis, through daily/monthly communication, parent meetings, quality surveys, etc.
- Effectively manage the wait list for care at both St. Peter’s and Adelaide Hoodless, arrange tours and play visits, and fill vacancies in an efficient manner.
- Meet/exceed all Ministry of Education licensing regulations
- Schedule staff members at both sites to meet the required teacher:child ratio and comply with the Collective Agreement
- Provide support, coaching and mentoring to all staff members, based on the College of Early Childhood Educators’ Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and provide on-going feedback
- Ensure the care and experiences provided to children by staff members align with the principles of “How Does Learning Happen?” and current best practice
- Schedule monthly staff meetings with the child care team
- Assist with the recruiting and hiring process, when necessary.
- Accurately complete and submit documentation to the City of Hamilton as required
- Provide input concerning budget preparation; consider budget when purchasing for the centre
- Provide bookkeeper with accurate records for staff payroll and family invoicing
- Prepare monthly reports for the Board of Directors and attend all Board meetings

Pay: From $34.00 per hour
