Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Cook, the Dietary Aide will follow established policies, procedures and
standards, assists in the preparation and service of food for the residents, including less complex
meal preparation for the Home and cleans production area and equipment.
Completes tasks outlined day to day in the preparation of meals and meal delivery to residents at
breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Dietary Aide supports the preparation of nourishments and
delivery to Resident areas at a minimum of three times a day.
Responsible to:

- Dietary Service Manager
- Cook (in absence of Manager)

**Responsibilities**:

- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Observes time limits for meal serving.
- Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
- Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits.
Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts
and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, load and operates dishwasher.
- Cleans pots pans and cooking utensils as per procedures.
- Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food including leftovers.
- Adheres to establish departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, QI/RM,
fire, safety, environment and infection prevention and control.
- Assembles nourishment carts.
- Participates in facility meetings as assigned.
- Attends in-service education programs.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Cooperates with other departments to meet resident’s needs.
- Ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with MOHLTC LTC Quality Inspection
Program, LTCHA 2007, Regs. 79/10 and Tyndall Seniors village guidelines, including quality
assurance, CQI/RM (temperature, taste etc.).
- Performs duties as needed in the department to facilitate the dietary operations.
