**The position**:
**Details of the Job**:

- **Animal handling** - confidence while physically handling animals is critical. A major part of the role is patiently and securely working with animals in a variety of environments while performing essential tasks such as feeding, exercising, socializing.
- **Cleaning and sanitation** - excellent cleaning skills are a must. (Maintain a neat and organized work environment at the front desk, clean runs, scoop poop, sanitize play areas, sanitize dishes)
- **Customer service** - Customer service is essential for this position. Our goal is to serve the individual needs of our customers with a kind and friendly disposition.
- **Physical fitness** - working at a kennel has certain physical requirements, such as the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. You would typically be on your feet for four to six to hours at a time and may have to lift larger breeds of animals. Minimal sitting.
- **Communication skills** - listening to and communicating with a wide range of people as well as animals (hearing sounds or anything out of the ordinary) is an essential skill that attendants must use with both clients and animals, answer phones, and quickly respond to customer inquiries and requests.
- **Observation skills** - since the animal care attendant helps monitor animal care, kennel attendants must be able to notice small changes in animals’ behavior and report any unusual actions. Kennel assistants pay particular attention to animals that are new or may need extra attention to adjust to their new environment.

**Qualifications**:

- Must possess a High School Diploma.
- Valid Driver's License
- Pet First Aid or Handling Course is an asset but not required.
