DIVERSEcity is seeking a Seasonal Part-Time Middle Years Coordinator to join our team. The Middle Years Coordinator will work within a partnership model with the Science Alive Staff to support recruitment, registration and to co-develop and co-deliver the Power Girls Program, a culturally responsive STEM program.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met;
- Supports 9-12 year old racialized girls from migrant backgrounds to identify and amplify their individual strengths and interests to participate fully in STEM activities;
- Plans and Coordinates Family Nights, showcases, and field trips;
- Responds to emergent issues and concerns by assessing the situation, and utilizing the appropriate responses to resolve the issue or concern in accordance with protocols;
- Promotes self-esteem, social skills building, and encourages an interest in learning amongst all program participants;
- Ensures a physical and emotionally healthy and safe environment in which children can interact and play;
- Prepares program reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for funder, agency, as well as program evaluations, as required;
- Keeps informed of new advancements in STEM programming for children, child development and middle childhood;
- All other duties as directed by Manager.
- Degree or Diploma in social services, or related and;
- Recent experience, within the last two years, in group facilitation, after-school programs, or recreation programs with newcomer children ages 6-12 or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience;
- Understanding of the barriers that exist for women and girls through own personal lived experiences;
- First-Aid Certification or ability to obtain within one month is required;
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement activities that are culturally responsive and inclusive of all children in a diverse group;
- Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt activities based on children’ interests, feedback and input of the team, and group observation, etc.;
- Experience working with diverse and multi-lingual populations with a strong knowledge of child development, specifically middle childhood;
- Excellent written and spoken English;
- Ability to speak an additional language will be considered an asset;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as strong computer literacy skills are required;
- Ability to develop & conduct training sessions with program clients and facilitate groups;
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships;
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and meet deadlines.

This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
