**Job duties**

**The Canada Summer Job Student Child & Youth Worker will assist with the following duties**:
1. Assist Management, Staff, and Direct Supervisor with all tasks, assignments, and projects

2. Assist with organizing, planning and implementing recreational, educational, and arts and craft activities for children ages 2 to 16 years old

3. Program/Activity planning, facilitation, mentoring, program evaluations, providing support to children/youth and their guardians.

5. Interacting with staff, clients, and community members.

6. Organizing group and community meetings and activities.

7. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the children during program.

8. Helping Child and Youth Advocate staff as needed.

9. Assisting with supervising children in the program indoors and outdoors; actively engage with them.

10. Assisting with maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space

11. Assisting with disinfecting any and all surfaces touched by children immediately after children leave the playroom.

12. Manage conflict between children, redirecting behavior, encouraging positive social skills.

13. Being a role model for children and youth

14. Provide child care when needed

**Skills/Qualifications required**:
**Teamwork** - teamwork refers to the skills needed to interact with other people. At work, people work with others in pairs and in small and large groups to coordinate tasks, share resources, plan, make decisions, negotiate, solve conflicts and complete other activities that involve teamwork.

**Communication** - Communication refers to the skills needed to exchange thoughts and information with other people. This exchange can happen orally by speaking, listening and using non-verbal cues, such as body language or in writing. At work, people use communication skills to talk to customers, discuss products with suppliers, explain work procedures to co-workers, participate in virtual sales meetings with clients, and other activities that involve verbal or written exchanges.

**Client service** - Client Service refers to the ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with clients. At work, client service skills are required to interact with clients on behalf of the employer.

**Leadership** - Leadership refers to a number of skills, including communication, relationship building, and the ability to delegate and traits such as honesty. At work, leadership skills are required when working in a team, demonstrating initiative, and taking responsibility for the completion of tasks that require multiple employees.

**Organizational skills - **attendance, punctuality, detail-oriented, organized, time management, working fast-paced and others are attributes of good organizational skills.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 7 weeks
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $15.50 per hour
