**Position**: Associate Ombudsperson - First Nations Health Ombudsperson

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Associate Ombudsperson in the First Nations Health Ombudsperson Office. This position is responsible for providing executive and administrative leadership and oversight to the First Nations Health Ombudsperson Office. They will work collaboratively with the Ombudsperson representing the Office in the greater community to foster partnerships, advocacy and First Nation community health goals.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**:

- **Leadership**_
- Collaborate with staff, clients, communities and partner organizations to accomplish the objectives of the Office.
- Encourage team building by facilitating open communication and positive working relationships with staff, clients, communities and partner organizations.
- Administer and direct the complete day-to-day operations of the Office.
- Ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures.
- Oversee staff to ensure effective operation as individuals and as a team to meet the goals of the Office.
- **Community and Client Relations and Advocacy**_
- Collaborate with the Ombudsperson to develop and communicate a vision and strategic plan to guide the Office.
- Identify, assess and communicate internal or external issues that affect the Office.
- Collaborate with the Ombudsperson to develop and deliver a strong communications strategy engaging in every opportunity to communicate with prospective clients, communities and partner agencies to promote the office.
- Provide support and resources to clients and communities.
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the Office.
- Promote community awareness of the Office and its programs.
- **Strategic Planning**_
- Communicate with key partners and agencies to promote the Office.
- Continually assess the needs of clients and communities and develop strategies to address changing conditions.
- **Analysis and Report Writing**_
- Ability to review and analyze all evidence collected during an investigation, including identification and analysis of any legal/regulatory issues.
- Ability to write detailed, high quality reports and correspondence setting out facts of a case cogently, objectively and accurately and in appropriate detail, followed by a well reasoned analysis and objective assessment of the evidence.
- Ability to recommend appropriate steps to take following analysis of the evidence including proposed findings and recommendations.
- Ability to write and/or assist in the preparation of high profile special investigation reports including findings, analysis and recommendations.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**_
- Master’s degree in law, Social Science or other related discipline.
- **Experience**_
- 5-10 years in related field.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations customs, culture, Treaty, traditional knowledge, language and history.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations health service delivery, inherent and Treaty Rights especially in the realm of health and health care.
- Salary is based on an established grid and commensurate with qualifications and experience._
