**SCOPE**

Reporting to the Manager, Pension & Benefits, and functionally to the Senior Advisor, Benefits, the incumbent manages the disability management program, provides effective case management under the accommodation program, as well as develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Primary HR resource for the disability management program. Adjudication of disability management claims related to the sick leave program. Provide effective disability case management and resolve issues; communicate with internal partners, employees and the university’s medical consultant; manage progressive return to work and Disability Management and accommodation cases; update systems accordingly.
- Review STD & LTD cases to ensure proper administrative and adjudication processes are adhered to; resolve issues with carrier; manage progressive return to work plans in collaboration with the insurance carrier, department and employee; manage disability management and accommodations; update systems accordingly.
- Adjudication of requests. Develop, recommend, implement and coordinate accommodation plans and services in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Advise managers and other stakeholders in the management of sickness and disability cases; communicate periodically with the manager and the employee to effectively address the issues limiting any impact on the return to work; conduct return to work meetings and ensure that necessary accommodations are in place.
- Provide guidance and training to internal partners and employees on disability management and accommodation. Update and maintain resource materials including Carrefour.
- Participate in the design and development of disability management programs and their implementation. Ensure legislative compliance and the integration and implementation of the disability management Policy and supporting procedures and programs. Participate in the development and delivery of awareness and education programs for managers and employees regarding accommodation.
- Collaborate in the development and delivery of return-to-work, policies, standards, protocols and practices. Provide ongoing support to service sectors, as well as partners in Human Resources to ensure consistent interpretation and administration of the disability management program.
- Participate in various committees and working groups as well as projects.
- Provide statistical data; collect data and provide analysis for annual post-employment liability reports, auditors, insurance renewals, and presentations to leadership or committees.
- Perform other duties in support of the unit.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities with 4-7 years of related experience in disability management and workplace accommodation.
- In-depth knowledge of group insurance and relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of disability management principles, best practices, protocols and medical terminology.
- Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English and French.
- Consultative in nature; ability to communicate with management and employees as well as with various departments throughout the University.
- Ability to work independently while actively contributing to the team's objectives.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills.
- Capacity to work in a changing environment.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of SAP and of Human Resources Information Systems are assets.
