Medical Laboratory Technician

We are currently looking for Medical Laboratory Technicians, like you, to join our Laboratory team and gain valuable health care experience for your future. Our core lab provides testing in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine to support the Hospital’s inpatient service, emergency department and perioperative services. Our laboratory is equipped with the latest in technology and we have a very close working relationship with the clinical areas in the hospital. POSITION DUTIES

1. Performance of laboratory specimen collection and processing reports.

2. Analyzer maintenance

3. Loading of samples onto analyzers.

4. Packaging samples for transfer to referral testing sites

5. Maintain the confidentiality of all personal health information.

6. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies, protocols and procedures.

7. Client Service and communication in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization.

8. Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting of unsafe hazards and work practices.

9. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. One-year experience in multi-disciplinary health services environment preferred

2. Postsecondary school diploma from a recognized MLA course

3. MLA Certification with either OSMT or CSMLS preferred

4. Personal attributes
- self-starter who has the ability to work well with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced medical setting. Highly developed organization skills and the ability to multitask

5. Demonstrates excellent customer relation skills and ability to work both in a team environment, and independently

6. Experience with a laboratory information system to include accurate and efficient data entry skills. Other computer experience, i.e. Microsoft Office an asset

7. Excellent attendance record

Pay: $32.56-$36.93 per hour
