**Position Title: Field Merchandising Manager**

**Team and Location: Retail - Vancouver, BC**

**Position Summary**:
The Field Merchandising team is a national function and a key component to Parkland’s success as we strive for heightened operational excellence and an improved customer experience - all with the short-term goal of achieving best-in-class status amongst convenience and food retailers across the country. The function will consist of 4 positions - segmented by region - however the team will work to build national programs, processes and internal capabilities that will be implemented consistently across the country. This role will interact with numerous departments including Operations, the Category Management team, Reporting, Site Operators and their respective Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), a number of vendors and other functions as required. The creation and development of this highly specialized team and function is included in the broader Transformation Management Office (TMO) project, and will therefore have consistent exposure to the Canadian Leadership team, the broader TMO group, Vice Presidents, Directors, and other Managers.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Coach and Train Retailers and TMs to ensure best in class merchandising capabilities and Operational Excellence
- Lead site level coaching and training for Retailers, site staff and Territory Managers.
- Ensure merchandising best practices are supported for all categories within the convenience store.
- Lead site level training to improve selling capabilities and customer support, communicate the financial benefit for supporting prescribed programs.

Conduct Regular Site Visits and Merchandising Reviews
- Delivery execution excellence at site level with respect to pricing, promotions, planograms, sku assortment and program compliance.
- Support store layout execution at site level; provide meaningful feedback to the Store Planning team for potential enhancements to the layout.
- Validate accuracy of the site’s store mapping assignment and ensure site attributes are current for each location in an assigned territory.

Sales Analysis and Category Reviews
- Present strong financial acumen and utilize the inhouse reporting tools available to identify opportunities at site level.
- Track key sales metrics for sites. Analyze and share insights with Merchandising and Operations to drive incremental results to enhance understanding the business and improving profit.

Support OTR Conversions, NTIs and Acquisitions
- Work with Parkland’s vendor partner and Operations for store conversion activities related to merchandising, quality and best practices within a defined territory.
- Establish collaborative liaisons between Retailers, Operations and Merchandising communicating successes and opportunities.
- Support regional and local vendor communication and accountability.
- Ad hoc merchandising initiatives as needed.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Post-secondary education in Commerce/Business ideally with a focus on Merchandising or Marketing.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably within a multi-unit business model, preferably but not necessarily in the retail or convenience store industry.
- Preferred but not required,1 to 3 years of food service management experience, preferably in a multi-unit environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify gaps in competencies and coach effectively.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Bilingual for the Quebec position.
- Ability to develop strong business relationships.
- A flexible team player that can work collaboratively within a diverse group of stakeholders across the organization.
- Ability to think and act professionally in pressure situations.
- Must be able to make difficult decisions based on sound data / information that are in the best interest of Parkland. Must be able to evaluate situations from all perspectives providing fair assessments and solution.
