We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to **join our team in Cobble Hill, BC as our Assistant Controller**. Reporting to the Controller, you will play a vital role in overseeing our daily accounting activities and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial transactions. If you have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for driving process improvements, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

There will be **no micro-managing** in this position. You will be in control of your areas of responsibility. The position includes **1 flex day every two weeks** and there may be opportunity for **working from home** a couple days per month. After 3 months, **all overtime will be paid** despite the management nature of this role.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Review of payroll and posting of payroll journal entries
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare custom reports.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records.
- Preparation of third-party remittances
- Supervision of staff to assure that the department accomplishes objectives.
- Support annual audit by working with the Controller to ensure all Balance Sheet items are reconciled in a timely manner
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in training and supporting staff on financial systems and processes.
- Special projects as may be identified from time to time
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes
- Develop spreadsheets to address reconciliation and reporting needs
- Take a “roll up your sleeves” approach to tasks that need to be completed within the department

**Qualifications**:

- 2-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Advanced Excel skills
- Critical thinking will be vital to your success
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is desirable
- Knowledge of dealership accounting is a plus
- **Ability to report to work in Cobble Hill, BC is a must**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
