Temporary Full-time: 37.5 hrs/wk ending August 31, 2024

**the program**

EMCN's Job Ready Program provides newcomers with a full range of employment services from initial employment readiness assessments, career planning, access to training, and supports into employment. The program supports more than 2500 people per year and has an employment placement success rate of over 80%.

**the challenge**

Facilitate job placement of our newcomer clients into the Edmonton’s labour market. Functional knowledge of the local, regional and provincial labour market, hidden job market opportunities, and employment opportunities that need to be developed for the mutual benefit of our immigrant jobseekers and employers.

Employment Placement Specialists work closely with employers and Job Ready Career and Employment Counsellors to match clients with sustainable jobs and other employment-related capacities within the labour market.

**the opportunity**
- Local point of contact for employers. Build relationships to understand employer business needs and markets EMCN employment programs and services to them.
- Support employer recruitment efforts and participate in employer specific programs.
- Demonstrate the business value in hiring diversity and support intercultural competency within employer places of business.
- Participate in business community events to foster and maintain high visibility for EMCN.
- Develop and maintain knowledge about local employers, their business, and what they look for in new employees.
- Work with EMCN’s employment team to determine possible job placements and other employment-related opportunity matches, that address a client’s strengths and transferable skills.
- Promote EMCN employment programs and clients directly to employers using a structured marketing approach (prospecting, needs analysis, selling, follow-up).
- Work with employers to place, match and job coach newcomer and immigrants.
- Assess workplace environments and employers to determine overall suitability for client placement and related opportunities.
- Advise employers on how to develop training plans and detailed retention plans for newcomer and immigrant employees.
- Develop and facilitate workshops and information sessions for the employer community.
- Actively work with the employment team to attain, maintain, and exceed performance standards and outcomes.
- Identify and develop new opportunities to promote EMCN employment services to employers, clients, and the broader community
- Provide targeted and customized individualized and group job coaching to clients.
- Liaise with other employment service agencies in Edmonton to foster cooperative relationships and discuss best
