**About the Company**

The Maritime Centre for African Dance (MCAD), formed in 2005, is an organization dedicated to teaching, sharing and promoting African Culture through the art of dance, to youth and adults across Nova Scotia and Canada. To date, MCAD has taught well over 600000 children and adults in schools, community centers, camps and programs. This number is ever-increasing. This organization was formed out of a necessity for the lack of cultural representation in the form of traditional dance in Nova Scotia. It is a collective of different individuals from Africa who are trained in traditional dance and range from the South, North, West and East of Africa.

**Summary**

The position provided driving support to the MCAD staff in support of operating efficiency. The role accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the emission and vision of MCAD.

**Key Duties**
- Give weekly scheduele the THURSDAY before to the Manager, via Whatsapp. This weekly scheduele highlights YOUR AVAILABILITY for the week.
- Once given a shift you are NOT PERMITTED to cancel the drive unless in EXTREME circumstances. Should you cancel the drive, this will affect your ability to receive any MCAD Shifts.
- Attire is ALWAYS **Business Casual** when driving our facilitators.
- Give notice to the Manager if unable to drive for the week or the day (If you cancel on the day, you may not be schedueled in the future)
- Review the route to the location (and have the route to the location), prior to the shift starting. You have to know WHICH location and THE WAY to get to the location.
- Show up AT LEAST 5 minuites before schedueled pick up time to location or locations
- Drive according to the speed limit on highway or roads
- Drive as directed by Management to the School
- Facilitators may stop to purchase food en route to the school
- **ALWAYS KEEP THE CAR AT A TEMPERATURE THAT IS COMFORTABLE FOR THE FACILITATORS**
- To keep everything that occurs in the car(discussions and preparation for the workshop) confidential
- Upon arriving to the school, your only contact with the school directly is drop off. **You are not permitted to enter the school under ANY circumstances unless directed by the Management Team. Should you need to use the washroom, there are always coffee shops in the vicinity.**
- While in the area or waiting for Facilitators, you are REQUIRED to be available for the facilitators if they need to leave the school premises to go for lunch or otherwise.
- IN EMERGENCIES contact HR via text or whatsapp.
- Absolutely NO smoking is permitted ON or 5Km from school grounds
- NO SMOKING in the car if it’s in use for the day, and no smoking near the facilitators. If you need to step away from the car so that the smoke does not reach the car.
- SHOULD YOU GET LOST, kms travelled while LOST are not compensated as you are supposed to have directions to the venue before the facilitators are pickedup.
- KMS are only counted to your last drop off and NOT to your drive home AFTER last pick up.

**Qualification, Skills, and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- Good driving skills
- Driver's license is a MUST.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize accordingly to effectively manage multiple deadlines and the routes.
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
- Proactive approach to the problem
- solving with strong decision-making skills
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task with great follow-up skills

**Schedule**: flexible

**COMPENSATION AND HOURLY WAGE**
- Compensation will be 0.40 cents/km AFTER the first 10kms
- GAS of **up** to $50 is ONLY given on Long distance drives (drives with more than 100kms). **Anything less than 100kms will be given a MINIMUM of $20 gas**.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed
