We are currently looking for a full time Electrical Technician to join our Freeman Lumber Electrical Team. This role reports directly to the Plant Engineer and will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of production equipment, including:

- Installing and maintaining automated controls and hardware
- Maintaining existing PLC-based automated equipment
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning PLC-based automated equipment.
- Troubleshooting plant networking issues
- Troubleshooting PLCs and associated processes
- Installing electrical and electronic controls on equipment
- Calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining site instrumentation including pressure, level, temperature and flow transmitters, and various other types of sensors
- Participating in various activities including (but not limited to) equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
- Understanding PLC logic, frequency drive-related issues, and other electronic-related concerns that will affect the mill.
- Monitoring mechanical and electrical operating systems for proper performance and make necessary parameter changes and adjustments
- Working closely with the Mechanics and Supervisors to ensure optimum utilization of mill equipment and systems
- Assisting in new installations as necessary
- Working with Planners to execute PMs
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to understand and satisfactorily complete WO's, PMs, and other tasks in a timely manner while following all Safety Requirements and Lock-Out Procedures
- Aptitude for diagnosing and correcting electrical/instrumentation problems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair DC drives, AC inverters, PLC controls, and hardware
- Create and read complex electrical schematics and blueprints
- Ability to multi-task while working under pressure
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Team player
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs
- Work with mínimal supervision
- Must be physically capable of bending, reaching, lifting, and able to work in extreme environments, (hot, cold, rain, snow)
- Availability to work shiftwork (day/evening shifts), weekends, holidays, and overtime hours

**Qualifications**:

- Possess one of the following diplomas or equivalent experience:

- Industrial Instrument Technician
- Electrical Technician
- Electro-Mechanical Technician
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of two (2) years experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of:

- Distributed I/O and control networks (Controlnet, Ethernet, etc.)
- Electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic components
- Electronic components (such as Control and Instrumentation principles and function)
- Closed-loop servosystems (encoders, AC Drive, PLC, Servomotors, etc.)
- Allen Bradley (Logix Family) and Siemens PLC hardware and programming software (Rockwell RS Logix 500 and 5000, Step-7)
- HMI knowledge (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Must meet minimum testing standards
- Continuous improvement experience an asset (e.g., Lean Six Sigma)

**Compensation**:

- Wage is negotiable depending on skills and experience.

**Salary**: $26.50-$35.00 per hour
