Heavy Equipment Operator

Summary
A Toplift (Heavy Equipment) Operator is essential for the mounting and maneuvering of equipment and containers around the rail yard and to ensure accuracy and delivery within in the supply chain.
**Responsibilities**:
- Maneuvering heavy equipment to load, unload and stack containers within private rail yard '“ from ground, railcar, or chassis
- Perform visual inspections of intermodal equipment, receives, and inputs data
- Inspects all equipment interchanged at Terminal for damages/defects and ensures that containers are prepared for either delivery or receipt by rail or ground transportation
- Service drivers as requested, assist in the dropping off and picking up, unlocking and locking of IBC's '“ Inner Box Connectors
- Perform accurate daily pre-trips on equipment and vehicles using tablets
- Accurately record lifts within specialized system (Oasis)
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, cleanly, and keep an organized work environment
- Perform duties of Groundsperson when required
- Perform physical duties relevant to job requirements
- Carry out all additional tasks as requested
**Qualifications**:
- Possesses, or is willing to obtain, certification to operate MacCosham container handlers
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Must be able to work on a rotating 2-week, 12-hour shift schedule
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all elements
- Able to communicate clearly, in English, over the radio
- Able to demonstrate safe and efficient workplace practices
- Ability to work within a team environment to meet tight deadlines
- Must be able to pass a company paid pre-employment screening test and background check as this is a safety sensitive position
Lead Hand Specific Responsibilities
- Supervision and direction of employees and prioritization of duties
- Initiate blue flag derail call outs when necessary
- Update group chat as required
- Update train arrival times as required
- Communicate with Yard Supervisor any incidents, accidents, or injuries
