**Job Summary**:
Further, the Refugee Claimant Settlement Worker will be responsible for conducting outreach to seek program clients. Program delivery will include group and one-on-one sessions for clients on topics such as housing, health care, the Canada immigration system, banking, and Canadian culture.

**Your Role**:

- Providing settlement services to refugee claimants in the Abbotsford, Mission, and Chilliwack areas, including housing search support, settlement orientation, refugee claim orientation, information sessions, and documentation support.
- Liaising with various support services to find housing for refugee claimants.
- Delivering individual and group information sessions and workshops on topics such as housing, health care, the Canada immigration system, banking, and other topics relevant to the refugee claimants’ needs.
- Organizing networking events, community activities and conversation circles for refugee claimants to learn about local resources in the community.
- Referring refugee claimants to Legal Aid.
- Referring refugee claimants to counselling services and providing information on various health resources in the community.

This position is a great fit for someone who is knowledgeable of the barriers facing refugee claimants, has an understanding and passion for working with individuals who have been impacted by trauma, has great interpersonal skills, and is knowledgeable of community resources in the Fraser Valley.

**Our Offer**
- Wage: $27.00 per hour
- A permanent, part-time position at 25 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

**Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have**:

- Post-secondary education in Social Services, Human Resources, Marketing, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing social services to refugee claimants, asylum seekers, or newcomers to Canada.
- Experience working with diverse multi-barriered newcomers to Canada.
- Experience working with individuals who have been impacted by trauma.
- Experience in networking and marketing is an asset.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- A valid BC Driver’s License and satisfactory driver’s record.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of trauma-informed care.
- Strong cross-cultural experience, sensitivity, and skills.
- Ability to keep up to date on settlement information and regulations as changes occur.
- Organizational and time management skills; able to balance and manage competing projects and priorities.
- Skills in using Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to use virtual meeting platforms including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Knowledge and ability to use database programs.
- Ability to speak a second language an asset.
- Knowledge of program and community partners in the Fraser Valley.
- Knowledge of Canadian cultural norms.
- Direct, in-person contact with on-site staff and clients; adherence to health and safety protocols is required.
- The use of a personal vehicle will be required for program-related driving; must be able to be insured according to Archway policy 3.36.
- Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
