The Intergenerational Strength and Resiliency (ISR) Coordinator under the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, will be primarily responsible to improve well-being for male urban Indigenous community members as they seek to improve their mental health, reduce any harms associated with their behaviours, resolve traumas sourced from the Indian Residential School system, and pursue a Good Mind. The ISR will ensure that the intergenerational traumas caused by Indian Residential Schools are addressed through strengths-based approaches to achieve and maintain a good mind while promoting healthy lifestyles, improving individual and family emotional well-being, and providing access to cultural knowledge and activities that foster self-respect and identity.

**Qualifications**:

- Two (2) year post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Social Service work, Mental Health and Addictions or a combination of equivalent and relevant education;
- 3-years minimum of demonstrated and related work experience with health/social services and Indigenous cultural approaches to fostering healthy lifestyles and wellbeing;
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, of both historical and contemporary Indigenous issues. Emphasis being on the impacts of trauma, family violence, engagement with Indigenous men and community outreach;
- Proven ability to organize, evaluate, communicate and present information, both verbally and written;
- Ability to promote the development of protocols and referral agreements with urban Indigenous organizations, mainstream health and social service agencies, Indigenous traditional health practitioners, and other relevant community partners and stakeholders as it pertains to the needs of the urban Indigenous community;
- Demonstrated ability to bring awareness to and educate survivors and their descendants of the history and impacts of the Residential School system;
- Must be able to work with other Friendship Centre programs, staff, and Indigenous organizations to promote a coordinated approach to healing and wellness services;
- Ability to conduct client intakes and identify traumas, mental health, addictions, and other related needs;
- Capacity to offer land-based activities, opportunities for transmission of cultural knowledge, and connections to Elders and traditional knowledge keepers to support cultural healing and positive self-identity;
- Must have excellent written, verbal, time management, and organizational skills;
- Must be flexible and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends;
- Possess a valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is an asset and be willing to travel when required; and,
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory CPIC- Vulnerable Sector Search within 30 days of employment start date as a condition of the employment offer.

HRIC is a highly flexible organization offering additional compensation including 5 paid cultural days, 4 paid holidays beyond mandatory Employment Standards, paid shutdown over the Christmas holiday week, and health benefits. HRIC health benefits are offered to full time permanent employees, employees will be able to enroll upon the successful completion of their (3) three-month probationary period.
