Mechanical Supervisor

Metal-Air Mechanical Systems Ltd., founded over 38 years ago, is a Sudbury based mechanical contracting company which services the industrial, commercial, and institutional markets. Serving Northern and Central Ontario, Metal-Air is looking for a skilled, highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our office team in the role of**:Mechanical Supervisor.**

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Project Coordinator / Estimator**:

- Prepare accurate takeoffs of mechanical systems using in-house estimating procedures.
- Conduct detailed cost estimates for mechanical projects, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Assist in the development of project proposals and bids.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
- Follow tendering processes and standard job procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors.
- Assist project coordinators and other estimators as required.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor the work of the plumbing department personnel performing a variety of plumbing projects.
- Review and approve paperwork of parts/materials ordered and received.
- Communicate regularly with GC / customers to keep them abreast of the progress of their project and follow up upon completion.
- Coordinate project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
- Conduct weekly site visits to projects and complete the project logbooks.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Type and proofread correspondence, forms, and other documents.

**Supervisor**:

- Lead and manage a team of plumbers, providing guidance and support.
- Participate in hiring, terminating and performance management.
- Promote and enforce company policies and procedures to meet the vision of the company.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints which are escalated from the department.
- Review and approve daily time entries, along with paperwork related to projects.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plumbing department.

**Qualifications/required skills**:

- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the industry.
- Excellent project management and organization abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer literate, including effective working skills of Windows, Office 365 - Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Able to adapt to and learn new software. Working knowledge of the Jonas Software/Apps is an asset.
- Ability to work and collaborate as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Must have valid driver’s licence and own transportation.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.

**Required experience**:

- Plumbing trade related experience and knowledge: 4-6 years
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

**Working Conditions**:

- Monday to Thursday - 40 hours/week.
- Office setting / various project sites
- Tight deadlines. Fast-paced environment.
- Long periods of sitting/working at a desk.

**Hourly rate**: To be determined based on qualifications and experience.
