Scarborough, Canada Manufacturing - CNC Machining Full time

**Hands on setting up of CNC Lathe & Milling machines/equipment** to ensure that precision metal parts are produced according to ISO quality requirements. Ensure the production floor machines are **running uninterrupted by troubleshooting machine concerns** in a timely manner to minimize and/or eliminate machine downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

**Machine-Specific Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the set-up, troubleshooting and changeover of assigned CNC lathe &/or milling machines to meet the production schedule including: tooling preparation for changeover and cleaning of old tooling.
- Test and run new programs where needed for new customer order and improve existing programs to reduce cycle time and increase output.
- Ensure set-up instructions are prepared for all new setups and ensure old setup sheets are up-to-date.
- Train and assist machine operators on changes and minor offset adjustments.
- Follow established work instructions for part being produced.

**Standard Set-Up Responsibilities**:

- Monitor first and last offs ensuring that quality of parts produced meet customer specifications. Report any non-conformances to Quality Assurance and shift supervisor.
- Ensure that all set-ups and repairs are done in a manner that will ensure the company’s objectives are met with respect to minimizing downtime, scrap and tooling costs.
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned CNC equipment, plan for and take corrective action.
- Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain required quality and maximum production.
- Cleaning, inspecting, organizing and arranging servicing of old tooling as required.
- Provide continuous improvement suggestions/ideas to enhance the set-up operation.
- Provide equipment downtime and equipment related cost reports in order to focus on cost reduction and to be aware of maintenance related costs.
- Participate in new part tooling development including: tooling design review; prototype run activity; pre-launch or production trial run activity.
- Ensure that production and production support equipment are in good/safe working condition.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment challenges and perform assigned preventative maintenance duties on equipment as required.
- Work as a team member and pass on skills, knowledge and/or understanding of machining processes to new employees.
- Provide feedback to production supervisor, machine operators and appropriate staff regarding concerns, problem areas or deficiencies to ensure corrective action is taken. Participate in team problem solving and preventive/corrective action as required.
- Report out monthly statistics for management review and management board.
- Comply with the applicable responsibilities related to effective quality management in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001:2015.
- Supports all plant ISO initiatives & requirements.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Operations Manager or designate.
- High School Diploma (grade 12) required.
- Machinist Certificate and minimum of five (5) years of hands-on setup experience required.
- Minimum production experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of setup and CNC Machining process is mandatory.
- Physically capable of performing all required job duties in a production environment. Accountable for work performed.
- Able to work overtime or off-shift as required.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use standard hand and measuring tools.
- Ability to follow and understand written instructions.
- Ability to read layout data, gauges and dedicated measuring equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels, both inside and outside the organization.
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
- Must have technical math skills (grade 12 level) and possess a good mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
