**TITLE**: Halton Deaf Seniors' Club (HDSC) Coordinator

**POSITION STATUS**:Part-Time - Temporary (Non union)

**SCHEDULE**: Flexible

**REPORTS TO**: Director of Seniors’ Services

**WHO ARE WE**:
The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (formerly the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf) was the first facility of its kind, and for over 30 years has provided the Deaf Community a space without communication barriers. Within this space an educational, independent living, and a social environment for the Deaf has blossomed. From its starting point as a community recreation facility, the Bob Rumball Centre has expanded into offering a range of specialized services to those within the Deaf Community that require support. These include seniors’, those with developmental, physical, health, or mental health issues, infants and young children, and newcomers to Canada. Our mission as an organization is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. Reporting to the Director of Seniors Services, the TDSC Coordinator will work to facilitate communication between Deaf Seniors and Hearing Consumers; to assist in the development and delivery of community outreach programs; to lead, coordinate and inspire TDSC Members to be active in the TDSC Community. Staff may be required to work an occasional evening, weekend or statutory holiday

**PRIMARY DUTIES**
- Communicates with Halton Deaf Seniors (HDS) participants and committee; schedules appointments, relays information
- Communicates with Seniors Service staff, Volunteers, Students and Family Members as required
- Communicates with Halton Deaf Seniors members and non-members of the other deaf senior groups provincially
- Communicates with professional and community partners
- Coordinates social, educational and recreational activities alongside the leaders or volunteers in the community
- Establish a volunteer committee, cultivate leadership within the community
- Ensure the safety of consumers while operating Agency or private vehicles
- Respond to emergency situations by following established guidelines
- Organize and establish service delivery model that meets the needs of the client population, Mission, Vision and Values and strategic planning goals of agency
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of program content and protocols
- Participates in setting, evaluating and meeting service targets and compiles and inputs statistical data
- Maintains internal and external statistics/reports using internal database
- Monitor membership information and renewals; maintain participant database
- Support as required the HDS chairperson
- Advertise all HDS activities (flyers, posters, website, newsletter, etc.)
- Assist in the development of Community Outreach programs

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Fluent in American Sign Language and Two-Hand Manual Communication
- Geriatric/ Social Services/ Deaf Studies/ Employment Services/ Recreation Therapist diploma or equivalent an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Senior Care setting preferred
- Valid Ontario full G driver’s license and clean driving record
- Knowledge and experience working within the Deaf community
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Innovation, initiative and integrity
- Must be able to work flexible hours to meet internal/external requirements
- Demonstrates reliability, dependability and flexibility
- Demonstrates experience in computer literacy (e.g. Words, Excel, Outlook)
- French/LSQ an asset
