**SUPERINTENDENT**

**Full Time/Contract based in Merritt BC**

**Job Summary**

A Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role involves managing the construction site, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Superintendent is the main point of contact between the construction team, contractors, and stakeholders.

The Superintendent's duties include developing project plans and timelines, coordinating the delivery of equipment and materials, supervising construction workers, ensuring compliance and regulations, and conducting regular inspections to ensure quality control and safety standards are met. They must also maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, budgets, and schedules.

To be successful in this role, the Construction Superintendent should have a solid understanding of construction principles, practices, and techniques. They must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including engineers, architects, contractors, and project owners. Additionally, the Superintendent must have strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and manage a team of construction professionals effectively.

**Responsibilities**:

- Planning and scheduling construction projects, including developing timelines, milestones, and budgets.
- Coordinating the delivery of equipment, materials, and resources required for construction projects.
- Overseeing the construction site to ensure that work is being completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Communicating with contractors, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that project requirements are understood and met.
- Managing and supervising construction workers, including scheduling work, providing training, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Conducting regular inspections of construction sites to ensure that quality control and safety standards are being met.
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, including progress reports, budgets, and schedules.
- Identifying and resolving any issues that may arise during the construction process.
- Ensuring compliance with BC One Call, WorksafeBC, regulations, and other legal requirements.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures for the construction site to ensure that all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Providing training and guidance to equipment operators on proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensuring that heavy equipment is well-maintained and in good working condition including that all equipment is properly stored and secured when not in use.
- Coordinating with the maintenance team to ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 4 years relevant field experience,
- Prior experience as a heavy equipment operator, pipe layer, etc.
- Valid Unrestricted Drivers License (heavy Trailer Endorsement or Class 1 Preferred)
- Valid Safety Certifications, WHMIS, CSTS2020, H2S, Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, TDG, OFA 1 w/Transportation Endorsement
- Ability to Pass pre-employment drug testing.
