Job Title: Laborer

**PURPOSE OF JOB**
- Performs material handling, refractory department activities, clean-up, insulating of environmental ovens.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Transports raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout the plant manually and using powered equipment.
- Assists machine operators, assemblers and other workers.
- General maintenance of shop, cleaning, repairs odd jobs.
- Assist in the paint department: loading, unloading racks with processed product.
- Insulating ovens.
- Support senior oven staff on various tasks related to the day-to-day fabrication of ovens.
- Refractory department activities.
- Fabrication of tiles.
- Metal prep when required, such as blasting parts, deburring, operating conventional metal cutting saw.
- Sets own job pace and makes limited decisions regarding job content.
- Mixes and pours refractories.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment operation
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

EFFORT REQUIRED
- Periods of restricted movement and concentration will restrict job mobility.
- Position requires frequent heavy lifting and repetitive motion for most of a regular workday.
- Job requires no on-going contact with external agencies/persons outside the plant.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Temperatures will vary frequently in work environment from normal comfort levels.
- Machinery/background noise will occur in the work climate.
- Co-workers and supervisors will predictably interrupt the work process.
- Regular, unobtrusive supervision will be the norm.
- Incumbent is exposed to health risks due to environmental conditions, physical hazards and moving equipment.

**Duties**:

- Perform general labor tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Assist with loading and unloading materials
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment
- Clean and maintain work areas
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines
- Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
