**Job Overview**
TUQ4 is a one-of-a-kind contaminated soil recycling company located near Nanticoke, Ontario, Canada. TUQ4 recycles soil via physical/chemical, stabilization, and batch heating methods. The main duty of the Filter Press Labourer is to operate the filter presses, supporting the contaminated soil recycling activities. This role also ensures the site and processing areas maintain a professional appearance through proper housekeeping.
**Duties**:
- Tends filter plate press that removes impurities or moisture from slurries and solutions: Covers filter plates with cloth, canvas, or paper
- Opens valve to admit liquid ingredients into tank, dumps specified dry ingredients into tank, and starts agitator to mix ingredients and form slurry
- Starts pump to transfer slurry from mixing tank to filter plate press
- Opens pressure valves to force slurry through plates to remove impurities and moisture
- Turns gear wheel to release tension of plates at completion of cycle
- When filtering to obtain liquid product, dislodges solid material from plates and cleans frames, screens, and filters, using scraper, steam, or compressed airhose
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Assisting with other maintenance issues around the site when needed
- Borrowing and returning tools/supplies from the Tool Crib
- Additional duties as assigned by Management and/or Supervisor
**Qualifications**:
- Attention to detail and accuracy, appropriately balanced with the need to complete tasks
- Capable of independent and self-guided work, and accepts and adapts to change
- Interpersonal communications skills and professional behaviours, specifically maintaining confidentiality and sensitive information
- Must be capable of working with cross-functional teams
- Able to manage emergency situations, work pressures and stress
- Ability to work up to 12 hours a day and extended hours as required
- Ability to relocate and/or commute to site location with reliable transportation
- Standing, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time - this is a physical, hands-on role
- Repetitive work with some heavy lifting
- Previous experience with power tools and heavy equipment an asset
Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 44 per week
