Day Camp Coordinator

**Job description**
We are looking for staff that have actively led large groups of at least 10-12 kids ages 6-12 in a recreational setting for at least several hundred hours.
We are seeking someone who has had leadership roles in other recreational camps for kids that wish to make a positive impact in the community. You are aligned with our values and are driven with purpose. You are kind, calm, patient, creative, efficient, reliable, dedicated, take initiative, and love to build relationships and community.
The position will include, but is not limited to:
- Collaborating with the Assistant Camp Coordinator and Camp Director along with Admin, Camp Leaders, and Volunteers
- Helping to train and mentor staff and volunteers in an engaging and efficient way
- Helping to supervise camp to ensure everyone's safety, wellness, and engagement
- Ensuring everyone's safety in and around the water. We swim almost every day at lakes and pools.
- Developing a safe, inclusive, and fun community for all
- Anticipating potential challenges and de-escalating and resolving them
Full time
- 35-40 hours per week from June 24-August 30.
The position will be outdoors, guiding camps. It is suited for someone with extensive experience and training who will act as a lead guide at one of our camps. We are looking for a calm and collaborative leader. As this job is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, staff need to be between 18-30 years old and Canadian citizens or Permanent residents.

Extensive knowledge of games is recommended. Please include a recent Criminal Record Check if you have one. A CRC is required. We seek and value a diverse and inclusive community.
Out-trips at our Burnaby North Camp include Barnet Beach, Confederation Park, Kensington Park, and places like Eileen Dailly Pool and Crash Crawly's when heavy rain or wildfire smoke is forecast. A reliable car is recommended. Hours are between 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday. This is a very active role that actively participates in all activities. There is almost no admin.

Adventure Play Care Society is a non-profit that operates Rainforest Adventure Camps for kids and youth. These camps are outdoors in and around the Tri-cities exploring some of the most beautiful forests, lakes, beaches, and rivers in the area. Our camps seek to further develop participants' independence, leadership, empathy, resilience, and social growth in a fun, safe, and peaceful setting. Our programs are child-centred. Our mission is to inspire, empower, and create community.
