Playroom Facilitator

Position Description:
The Playroom Facilitator (PRF) directs and oversees a multi-aged (0-5) play space within the Chebucto Family Centre (CFC). As the lead Early Childhood Educator, the PRF provides childcare needs during CFC programming and plans and facilitates parent/caregiver-child interactive programs. The PRF works collaboratively with staff to meet the CFC’s Mission and serves as part of the Program Planning Team. In addition, the PRF leads and mentors' relative volunteers and student placements in collaboration with the Director of Programs.

- Collective Centre Staff

**Duties**:
Programming
- Create and implement engaging, emergent and inclusive early learning programming for children (with a niche age of 0 to 5, yet could be expanded when relative) and families
- Develop and facilitate Holiday/Themed social creative programming for children and families
- Responsible for overseeing childcare support for parents/caregivers attending CFC Programming

Social Support
- Consciously engage in communication with parents/caregivers and children in playroom programming
- Serve as a referring body to internal Centre programs and services for children and parents/caregivers
- Establish and clarify needs of children and parents/caregivers to ensure quality of care while engaging in playroom services, especially in a childcare capacity

Internal Networking
- Participate in regular reflective practices with Director of Programs
- Serve as a member of and contribute to the Centre Program Planning Team
- Attend regular and called Staff Meetings

Community Collaboration/ Outreach and Best Practices
- Stay current and engaged in social service culture, community trends and needs
- Participate in professional development training within the ECE realm
- Collaborate with relative Community Agencies to enhance program delivery
- Be aware of Duty to Report criteria for Child Protection and act accordingly
- Uphold integrity in scope of practice and adhere to confidentiality
- Lead and mentor relative volunteers and student placements

Position Requirements
- ECE Degree/Diploma, Child &Youth Development, or Family Studies.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors and Child Abuse Registry Check
- First aid & CPR-C certification.
